A water loss in a Sandy home affected a finished basement living room and the kitchen directly above it, which put the two monitoring points on opposite sides of the same assembly — a wood sill low in the structure and a ceiling joist overhead.
That is a useful pairing, because those two components dry at different rates and for different reasons. The sill sits low, in contact with cooler material, and stays wet longest. The joist is up in warmer air with better circulation around it. Reading both, daily, is how you avoid the trap of pulling equipment when the accessible component hits its number while the slower one is still holding water.
Containment went in, the affected ceiling and wall materials were opened so airflow could reach the wet framing directly, and four air movers ran with LGR dehumidification until both points cleared the standard.
