How Much Does Clean Water Damage Cost to Clean Up?

At Keystone Restoration’s 2026 rates, clean water jobs in Salt Lake County come to about $1,950–$3,500 for one room and $5,200–$6,500 for a finished basement. Clean water (IICRC Category 1) comes from a sanitary source, like a burst supply line, a leaking water heater, or an overflowing sink. It’s the least expensive type of water damage to fix because carpet and other materials can often be dried in place instead of thrown out, if we get there quickly.

These are estimates based on our standard rates, not a quote. Your price depends on what we find on site. Moisture inspection is free.

Why speed matters most on clean water

Clean water doesn’t stay clean. After 24–48 hours, it picks up contaminants from flooring, drywall and dust and can be reclassified as gray water. That moves the job into a higher price tier and usually means carpet that could have been dried now has to be removed. Shut off the water, then call.

Straight Answers

FAQ

Can my carpet be saved?

Often, yes, on clean water jobs caught early. The pad is usually replaced. If the water sat more than a day or two, the carpet may need to go too.

Is a burst pipe covered by insurance?

Sudden pipe bursts are usually covered by homeowners policies. Frozen pipes can be denied if the home wasn’t kept heated. Check your policy and call your insurer early.

Why is equipment the biggest line?

Drying is most of the work. A typical room runs 1 dehumidifier and 5 air movers around the clock until moisture readings are back to normal.
