How Much Does Mold Remediation Cost?
At Keystone Restoration’s 2026 rates, mold remediation in Salt Lake County comes to about $1,900–$2,350 for a bathroom and $3,650–$4,400 for a section of basement. Mold jobs follow the same containment and protective rules as sewage. The work area is sealed off, kept under negative air pressure so spores don’t spread, and moldy drywall and insulation are removed, HEPA-vacuumed and treated.
These are estimates based on our standard rates, not a quote. Your price depends on what we find on site. Moisture inspection is free.

What’s different about mold pricing
- No emergency call-out. Mold is usually scheduled, not an emergency, so there’s no service call fee.
- Containment is the core of the job. Plastic barriers, zipper doors and a negative air machine keep spores inside the work area.
- Removal, not drying. Mold jobs are mostly tear-out and cleaning. If there’s an active leak or wet materials, drying is added at our standard equipment rates.
- The leak has to be fixed. Mold comes back if the moisture source isn’t repaired first.

Straight Answers
FAQ
How fast does mold grow after water damage?
Mold can start growing within 24–48 hours on wet drywall, carpet and wood. That’s the main reason fast drying matters.
Does insurance cover mold?
Usually only when the mold came from a sudden, covered water event, like a burst pipe. Mold from a long-term leak or humidity is commonly excluded.
Do I need mold testing first?
If the mold is visible and the source is known, testing often isn’t necessary to start remediation. If you suspect hidden mold or need documentation, testing can help.
